Children's Privacy Policy

Who this policy is for

This policy explains how Talkallam handles personal information when the learner is a child. It supplements our general Privacy Policy. Public activation of child accounts is currently unavailable. Verifying a parent or guardian's email address is only one step in a future consent process; it is not verifiable parental consent and does not activate a child account or enable voice tutoring.

Information we collect

While a consent request is pending, we limit collection to what is needed to set up and audit that process:

• The child's first name and date of birth.
• A parent or guardian's email address, email-verification evidence, and pending consent status.

A one-time code sent by email verifies access to that inbox only. It does not grant consent, activate the child's account, create a parent-child link, or enable voice. If child access is approved in the future, the service may process lesson activity, scores, progress information, and — only after the separate voice safety gates are met — session transcripts. Raw voice will not be stored by default; saving a separate pronunciation sample would require the applicable setting and explicit parental permission.

How we use children's information

• To manage and audit the pending guardian-consent process.
• To provide written, age-appropriate onboarding where it is available without enabling live voice.
• After a future approved launch, to adapt lessons and generate progress information for authorized users.
• To operate support, security, and abuse-prevention controls.

We do not use children's personal information for targeted advertising or sell it.

Safety controls

Live voice tutoring is disabled for children and teenagers. It will not be opened publicly until near-real-time moderation, server-initiated session termination, and field-tested safety controls have all been implemented and approved. Age-appropriate topic rules, screen-time controls, and quiet hours describe the intended child experience; this policy does not claim that those planned controls are currently available. The current server gate fails closed when the required minor voice-safety capability is unavailable.

When information is shared

No public child voice traffic is currently enabled. Any future processor used for child information, and the applicable safeguards, will be reviewed and disclosed before that feature is opened. We do not sell children's personal information.

Parent and guardian choices

A parent or guardian may ask to review, correct, export, or delete the child's information, or withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent freezes the child's access and invalidates its active authentication tokens. It does not automatically start account deletion: deletion is a separate request, subject to any limited retention required by law or security needs.
